03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Fun, whatever is on my floor, loud

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Paul Weller - Out Of The Sinking

My dad grew up a massive Jam/ Weller fan. So I practically got forced to listen to anything he’d released. Out Of The Sinking is one he played me on guitar before going to bed and it was the first song I listened to over and over because it reminded me of

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Arctic Monkeys - She's Thunderstorms

I can remember when it first came out and not really falling off my chair (had to through a pun in) but then hearing She’s Thunderstorms and completely falling in love. It’s a real summer album and I love the memories I have when it comes to this song.

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Amazons - Junk Food Forever

The Amazons played When in Manchester Festival put on and organised by two incredible women, Miriam and Ellen! This song really hits me in my heart. It’s something you can grab your best friend to and really, really sing.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Spice Girls - Who Do You Think You Are

Guilty! But yes the Spice Girls can always get me on my feet and to the middle of a room to make a fool of myself. Without a care in the world!

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Indoor Pets - Barbiturates

Indoor Pets are a very new band to me. I only got shown their debut album a few days ago. But my god did it blow my mind! This song is one of my all time favourites off the album. The vocals are just hands down one of the best I’ve heard!

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - Spray Paint Love

I listen to this song everywhere and anywhere humanly possible. Frank Carter has been one of my favourite artists for years and this song is just made for turning up the volume to as loud as it can go and screaming along.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street - Single Version

Whenever I’d meet someone who didn’t like me for whatever reason I’d play this to remind myself that this is life and people aren’t always going to be kind. It’s more about how you react and how you deal with it that makes you a good person.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Oasis - Rock ‘n’ Roll Star - Remastered

I’ve spent many many many, too many in fact. Nights where this has been the song to get everyone up and going. I don’t know if it’s because of Liam Gallagher’s attitude or whether it’s just such an iconic song but everyone turns into a mini LG.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Toploader - Dancing in the Moonlight

When this song comes on, it’s impossible not for everyone to get up and dance and sing along. It’s the perfect way to end a night on a high.
