03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Fun, Funky, Fabulous

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Praise Cats - Shined On Me - Extended Mix

My mum was always into house music when I was younger and I would sing this song constantly. I remember seeing a video of me singing along and then saying "That's all you want mum isn't it? Peace in your soul".

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Ms. Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor

It was hard to pick a favourite track from the album as I adore it all. This album taught me a lot about femininity, self acceptance and pain. This track in particular because you can truly feel the pain and passion in her voice.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Anita Ward - Ring My Bell

It was the first time I had DJ'd anywhere that wasn't in my house and it came a few weeks after I had hijacked my very good friends Luke and Grant (from MILK)'s DJ set. I decided to do a set live with help from Luke and this is one of the songs that we played.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Rolling Stones - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - Mono Version

The whole song is irresistible. As soon as I hear the intro I want to stop what I'm doing, get up and do a ridiculous dance like Eddie and Patsy in Ab Fab. It is also my ultimate karaoke song.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Rainbow Maniac - Snowball

Listening to Snowball makes me feel powerful and as if I can accomplish anything. As well as being full of heavy guitar riffs. Rainbow Maniac are the best Cardiff band and there are very exciting things happening for them.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

CHROMA - Casaiety

Casaiety is essentially about being in love with someone but at the same time hating them and the way that they treat you. It is my angry anthem that can be found on all of my breakup playlists. Cadw'r iath gymraeg yn fyw.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Madonna - Hung Up

Every Saturday night in Clwb Ifor Bach they do a club night called Dirty Pop, I have a lot of memories of this song and that clwb. My friends and I always seem to be the last ones there.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Talking Heads - Psycho Killer - 2005 Remastered Version

Everyone knows this song so when it comes on there is a sense of unity in everyone appallingly imitating David Bryne's screams. Even my little brother thinks he knows the words to Psycho Killer. (He's 10) However, He can imitate the screams rather well though.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Boy Azooga - Hangover Square

Hangover Square is unbelievably dreamy and Boy Azooga are one of my favourite bands so I think it helps to have a familiar voice to guide you to your pillow after a heavy night.
