What do you do?
Artist

Where are you from?
Shiga

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
TTNG. We’ve very recently co-headlined an American tour with them. Especially, the gig at PlayStation Theater in New York was the best among the 24 shows of the tour.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I got to know the UK culture since I visited there. I’m interested in the delicateness of fashion and a sense of formality.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I have two venues. First, The Eden Project in Cornwall, UK, where tricot played with the American band ‘Pixies’. The Dome was interesting. Another venue is The Pohoda Festival in Slovakia. We performed on a stage built on the top of a bus. The bus moved into position for the show, in the end, we performed opposite the main stage, in front of 20-30 thousand people.

If you could be on the line up with any band in history?
I’d like to sing with The Beatles. I used to be a member of a Beatles cover band.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I’d like to be next to John Lennon and listen to him singing.

Your greatest unsung hero (or heroine) in music?
There are a lot of them, but I will choose Delta Sleep. We will perform with them on our next UK tour. We've already played together three times.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
‘A Hard Day’s Night’ by The Beatles.
I covered it when I was 16.

A song that defines the teenage you?
Morning Musume - Because of them, I decided to begin my career in music. I’ve been an admirer of them since their song ‘LOVE Machine’ and even applied for an audition. Unfortunately, I failed at the CV stage.

One record you would keep forever?
'1' by The Beatles.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
I don’t have any influence from any other artists when I write lyrics.

Best song to turn up loud?
‘Gibbon’ by TTNG, who we performed with on our last tour.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Rina Sawayama, who is UK-born Japanese and in New York now. I found her on Instagram and thought she was stylish and attractive.

Any new bands you are listening to now?
I’ve recently listened to Everything Everything. The vocalist of TTNG recommended them to me.
