Name?
Sahara

Where are you from?
Dundee

What do you do?
Attempting to balance our musical ambitions with studying for degrees in Philosophy, Neuroscience, Music and an electrician apprenticeship.

Describe your style in three words?
Copying cool people.

You can make a record with anyone from history - who would it be?
Ezra Koenig (vocalist/guitarist for vampire Weekend).

What do you miss about home when you're on tour?
The scenery and having a strict routine.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been too?
Babyshambles at The Barrowlands, Glasgow.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Johnny Marr, New Order, any of Alex Turner's projects, Edwyn Collins.

You can spend an hour with anyone from history - who would it be and why?
Probably David Bowie because of how interesting, intriguing and mysterious he seemed. Would get a good few stories out of him!

Sahara are a 4-piece indie rock band from Dundee, Scotland.

Their self-titled debut EP was released in July 2016 and can be streamed via SoundCloud below.

04Playlist Notes

What was the first song you played on repeat?
'Wasted Little DJs' by The View.

One record you would keep forever?
'Is This It' by The Strokes. Chosen track would be 'Barely Legal'.

Song you wish you had written?
'A Day in the Life' by The Beatles.

Song that defines the teenage you?
'Away With The Fairies' by Sergeant.
Since we're all still aged 17-19, we picked one from an album which we all went through a phase of being obsessed with throughout school.

A song lyric that inspires you?
It's impossible to narrow it down to just one line from one song, but 'Out Getting Ribs' by King Krule always stands out for us as a lyrical highlight because of its depth, fluidity, cleverness and how poetic it is.

4 songs by new bands you can’t stop listening to right now?

'Dreamers' by Neon Waltz
Their sound can literally trigger nostalgia for the Scottish Highlands even if you've never been before — Dreamers is an example of this, as well as being an overall anthem.

'Smoke Eyes' by Vladimir
A massive and atmospheric song from one of the best bands to come out of Dundee. Great people too.

'Grab Life By' by The Lapelles
This song is the pinnacle of a band which we'll always believe would have gone on to become everyone's favourites and the next big thing.

'VVV' by Baby Strange
Undoubtedly one of the greatest live bands around, this song perfectly captures the sound of an exploding Glasgow scene and proves why Baby Strange have been hugely successful in selling out venues across the UK and rightfully earning themselves reputable support and festival slots.
