03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Somedays. We’re Vittorio, Gege, Eliseo, Jerome and Matt from Turin/Milan/Zurich/São Paulo.

Describe your style in three words?
G: “Still sleeping, man”.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
E: Probably David Byrne’s performance at the Hammersmith this year. Very theatrical and passionate. I loved 'Dream Operator'.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
J: The Stooges and The Doors. What a night that would be.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
G: None, really… But we all love the surf vibe… Matt and Vitto are the only ones who can’t stand up on a board.
V: For now.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
M: Alexander the Great. I’m not looking for inspiration or anything.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
E: Camden Assembly. Great venue, sound and atmosphere. The lights were super cool, too.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
V: Robbie Basho. He’s the greatest guitarist I’ve ever heard.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
G: When I was eight, I crossed the Australian desert on a car with my family and all we had was a Shrek OST compilation for the whole two weeks. You know where this is going.

'All Star' by Smash Mouth.

A song that defines the teenage you?
V: 'Don’t Shoot Me Santa' by The Killers.

One record you would keep forever?
E: 'I Put a Spell on You' by Nina Simone.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“Watch out, the world’s behind you
There’s always, someone around you
Let it go… It’s nothing at all”

'Sunday Morning' by The Velvet Underground.

J: Lou Reed really knew how to put it into words.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
G: 'I’m So Tired' by Fugazi.

A song you wished you had written?
M: 'Famous Blue Raincoat' by Leonard Cohen.

Best song to turn up loud?
V: 'Green Machine' by Kyuss.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
E: 'Toxic' by Britney Spears.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
V: 'Heard You Looking' by Yo La Tengo.

Any new bands you are listening to right now?
V: 'Helios' by Rival Consoles.
G: 'Fill In The Blank' by Car Seat Headrest.
E: 'Mood' by Porches.
J: 'Pristine' by Snail Mail.
M: 'Banks Are Broken' by Rachel Sermanni.
