Regarded by some as one of the best contemporary punk outfits currently on the UK scene, IDLES have announced the release date for the follow up to their self-released 2017 debut 'Brutalism'. The Bristol five piece's second album 'Joy As An Act of Resistance’ will be released on 31st August (2018) preceded by the first single 'Danny Nedelko' named after a friend of the band, who also stars in the video for the single.
“This album is an attempt to be vulnerable to our audience and to encourage vulnerability; a brave naked smile in this shitty new world. We have stripped back the songs and lyrics to our bare flesh to allow each other to breathe, to celebrate our differences, and act as an ode to communities and the individuals that forge them. Because without our community, we’d be nothing.” - Joe Talbot
IDLES had already shared the new album's opening track 'Colossus', which as the name suggests is a huge mass of a song. Equally huge is the world tour schedule that the band have undertaken, beginning in Japan in September, taking in US dates before returning to the UK and Europe from October until early December.
A triumph of self-publication in the true spirit of punk, the extremely positive reception of 'Brutalism' resulted in IDLES selling out their last London headline show six months ahead.
