Magnolia Shoals are four-piece alt-rock band from Denmark, comprised of Nicolai Noa (Vocals, Keys & Piano), Kristian Lorenzen (Drums, Backing vocals & Lyrics), Thomas Halkier (Bass & Percussion), and Samuel Medina (Guitar, Backing vocals & Lyrics).
'Magnolia Shoals' is the title of a poem written by author and poet Sylvia Plath (1932 – 1963), in which she outlines Magnolia Shoals as a place for the narrator to hide, unwilling to acknowledge that summer outside has been replaced by winter and cold.
The band have just released their album Tenants, available to download here.
Their latest track is 'Render Hill', a progressive alt-rock ballad, with subtle brass, string and guitar accompaniments building around warm, baritone vocals. The tune highlights their ability to create brooding, impassioned melodies with elements of soul and post-punk. Listen below.
