Name, where are you from?
Andrew Cushin, Newcastle.

Describe your style in three words?
Indie football casual.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Courteeners, the way Liam Fray controlled the crowd was amazing! He had them in the palm of his hand.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
The Rolling Stones - Mick Jagger in my opinion was just the ultimate frontman, totally captivating performances. 'Jumpin’ Jack Flash' used to be our old walk-on song. Paul Weller is another, first and foremost I’m a lyricist and resonate hugely with songs of meaning and stories. Paul for me is one of the best at that.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Well I see myself as just one of the lads, I’ve always worn what I’ve worn regardless of musical taste. I suppose if it fits a category it would be along the lines of football casual, Stone Island jackets, Fred Perry polo shirts, Adidas trainers... that sort of thing.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
John Lennon. I think without the impact and effect he had on music, we would all be in a darker place.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
It’s always a joy to play in the toon so I’m going to say when we headlined the Boilershop. One thousand people in my hometown is something I’ll never forget.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
I’m going to say my dad. I’ve met some of the greatest names in music and have been so privileged to play alongside so much talent. However, if it wasn’t for my dad I wouldn’t have picked up the guitar at all.

Andrew Cushin recently released his debut EP 'You Don't Belong' on Strap Originals. Listen, purchase or stream it via lnk.fu.ga/youdontbelongep.
