03Interview

Name, where are you from?
My name is actually literally just aya and I’m actually literally just from Manchester.

Describe your style in three words?
Transbian enjoys pint.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I saw The DJ Producer at Thunderdome at the tail end of 2019. For someone who works in a scene that's all about intensity, his sense of space and balance is utterly masterful. Tons of mad pyrotechnics and fifty thousand gurned up Netherlanders going mad for 200bpm gabber, pretty special in my opinion.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
The Chariot c. 'Wars and Rumors of Wars' so I could rewatch Josh Scogin throw KC Wolf’s bass to him over the crowd’s heads. Prince and The Revolution so I could see *that version* of 'Baby I’m A Star'. Lol what an absolute cursed lineup this would be.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I wouldn’t mind a quick rip around with akobi someday.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
White Hotel in Manchester, best people, best lineups, pint of hot latte at 9am on new years day.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Frankly, I don’t think Trevor Horn gets the credit he deserves for writing 'All The Things She Said' by t.A.T.u.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Wrath Of Kane' by Big Daddy Kane.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'World War Me' by From First To Last.

One record you would keep forever?
'R.I.P - DJ Hype Remix' by Remarc.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
When sunshine productions said "Take me to the top" - I really felt that.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Balance Beam' by 7038634357. As in if someone played this I would lay directly on the floor of the club, awaiting the inevitable.

A song you wished you had written?
'Gee' by Girls' Generation.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Dance Til The Police Come' by Peverelist.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Pinto' by Boldy James, The Alchemist.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Stay With Me' by Novelist.

Any new music you are listening to right now?
'VANITY' by Iceboy Violet. Iceboy Violet is the greatest mc of our generation.
