03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Bone Slim from England.

What do you do?
I’m an escape artist and shark fan.

Describe your style in three words?
Knows no boundaries.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Lava La Rue at Village Underground the other day, when she played 'Magpie' the whole crowd was mad.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Arctic Monkeys and Gorillaz. Saw a video of 'A Certain Romance' from Glastonbury in like '12/'13 I think and it looked mad, so I really wanted to see that live. Also, the same with Gorillaz ever since I saw their performance with holograms at the MTV awards in like '08/'09.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Underground London nightlife and British sessions cause that’s what I’ve come up doing, the underground scene in this city has a vast network that often intertwines as it finds itself.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Probably MF Doom. Pissed I didn’t meet him or see him live more times, he was an inspiration.

Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
My favourite right now is still Map Cafe, it’s just fun and you can do whatever you like to enjoy the music, it’s just been done up too and it sounds bangin' in there.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
st.illwell - since I met him he’s been there for me, a true brother check out his upcoming releases but for now my favourite track by him is 'Light'.

Bone Slim 'Danse Macabre' is released 17th September on Stogey Records.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Doomsday' by MF Doom.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Has It Come To This?' by The Streets.

One record you would keep forever?
'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' by Kanye West.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"I walk with a head full of a fire and a belly full of hunger pain, uncontained rage takes hold till I’m numb again, clear the air like summer rain it’s just another day seen through the eye of the hurricane"

From 'Alcoholic Author' by Jehst.

A song you wished you had written?
'Happy Birthday'.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Slap Dat' by Dutta x Bone Slim.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Ayonha' by Hamid Al Shaeri.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Do You Mind - Crazy Cousinz Remix' by Kyla, Paleface.
