03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Greedy Soul, Camden Town.

Describe your style in three words?
Mod, colourful, casual.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The Stone Roses reunion, or The Libertines supported by The Pogues because of how crazy it was! We used to love going to Pete Doherty gigs because there's always a chance you'd see him get electrocuted or something.

If you could be on the line-up with any two artists in history?
The Sex Pistols and Happy Mondays. Think both crowds would be great to play to. The Sex Pistols everyone's there to go crazy and the Happy Mondays everyone turns up to dance and have a great time.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Rock and roll, punk, hip-hop, indie. They were all things that came up from the streets at the time, packing out shows. Not originally helped out by any major funding or labels. Love that stuff.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Leonardo Da Vinci.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
We played in a nightclub called Mr Wolf's in Bristol. It was usually the last place open where people go to dance at 4am. But we managed to play in there at that time. Done all our fastest songs, it was like being at a rave.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Daniel Johnstone. Hundreds of low quality poorly produced tracks he has done himself. But if you can see past that some of the lyrics are great. Very underrated. Some of the songs have been covered in a better setting and sound great.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
Probably Steps or S Club 7 when I was about eight.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'8 Dead Boys' by Babyshambles.

One record you would keep forever?
The Best of The Smiths.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Express Yourself"

From 'Express Yourself' by Charles Wright.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Heart of Glass' by Blondie. Can't beat the '80s cheese.

A song you wished you had written?
'Happy Birthday'. Be a good claim to fame.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Mind Games' by John Lennon.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Circles' by Adam F.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'We Are The Champions' by Queen. Can't go wrong with that bad boy.

Any new music you are listening to right now?
'Deeper Than Holy' by Pastel.
A London band called MAZE are great too.
