Name, where are you from?
Anton based in Bristol but originally from Leeds.

What do you do?
I mainly look after my 10-month-old puppy Margot and I sing and play bass in HEKA.

Describe your style in three words?
Charity Shop Reject.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
So hard to choose but getting the chance to see Daniel Johnston at the Brudenell Social Club was an honour that I will go to my grave with.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Cure and Joy Division - they’re both hugely important bands in the British music scene that have really paved the way for so many bands like ours since. I’m not sure many of my favourite bands would exist without these two and of course, it would just be a wild night.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I think the only one that has directly influenced me is probably my Emo phase because it was really the first time I expressed myself. It drastically changed the way I dressed and acted, and it was here where I started performing on stage with my screamo band Written In Stitches. Glad I don’t have to pick a song for this subculture though as some of the songs I loved back then have not stood the test of time but the memories and gigs from that time will always be a fond memory.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
David Bowie without a doubt. He is my favourite musician of all time (a true artist in every sense of the word). I think it would end up with him basically giving me therapy and I don’t think an hour would be enough! Can we make it two hours? A day? A week?

Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I’ve already mentioned it but the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. I’m probably slightly biased because I grew up around here but there’s some magic in those walls that I can’t quite explain.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
I don’t think Billy Joel gets the credit he deserves, Even though it feels slightly like a guilty pleasure.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Tender' by Blur.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'So Real' by Jeff Buckley.

One record you would keep forever?
'A Simple Beautiful Truth' by Wild Beasts.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“There's a black crow sitting across from me, his wiry legs are crossed, he is dangling my keys, he even fakes a toss”

From 're:stacks' by Bon Iver.

A song you wished you had written?
'Slip Away' by Perfume Genius.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Strata' by STUFF.
