Name, where are you from?
Anouska, Yuri and Tim. We're from London.

Describe your style in three words?
Tall, dark and handsome.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Portishead at Latitude 2015 - towards the end of their set, they brought out an acoustic guitar and started playing “The Rip”. I closed my eyes and vibed with it, but when I opened them Thom Yorke was on stage right in front of me, singing in a duet with Beth Gibbons. I thought I was dreaming.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Our mummies: Broadcast and Cate Le Bon.

Which Subcultures have influenced you?
We've grown up in the South London rock scene, and all the acts share this paradox of irreverence and darkness that we love. All the jazz jams around London in the past 5 years have also been so inspiring because they prove a supportive community can exist in a big city like this. Our own sound is more inspired by a deep love of 60s soul and 90s dream pop, but it's harder to pick specific subcultures out of that.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Arthur Russell. He had a lot he never got to say, and his approach to making music was so eccentric. He always seemed to me like an alien who booked a short holiday on Earth.

Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
George Tavern (especially on Tuesday nights).

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Emitt Rhodes. He’s the better Paul McCartney.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'I Say A Little Prayer' by Aretha Franklin.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'You Won’t Be Missing That Part of Me' by Melody’s Echo Chamber. We were all space cadets in our own way.

One record you would keep forever?
'Bookends' by Simon & Garfunkel.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“Sad nudes in my room”

From 'Sad Nudes' by Cate Le Bon.

A song you wished you had written?
'This Must Be The Place' by Talking Heads. It's just a perfect song in every way. There are emotions in there I've never heard in another song.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Can’t Smile Without You' by Barry Manilow, actually one of Noush’s all-time favourite songs.

The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Water No Get Enemy' by Fela Kuti. You know a song is good when it's 11 minutes and you still want more.

Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Hold On' by Wild Cherry.

Any new bands you are into at the moment?
The Cactus Channel, Drug Store Romeos, Opus Kink, The Soundcarriers, Saul, Katy J Pearson, Ego Ella May, DOG. So many good sounds, so close to home.
