Name, where are you from?
LOUISAHHH, from NYC, based in Paris.

What do you do?
I am a DJ and musician.

Describe your style in three words?
Liberated Techno Punk.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
An impossible question, but I will say Garbage and Red Hot Chili Peppers in Nice, France, 2001. I was fifteen, it was the pinnacle of everything I loved.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Obviously Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Riot grrrl as a political/musical movement and BDSM as a lifestyle/aesthetic.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I think Audre Lorde would be my number one choice for her ferocious wisdom, her beautiful integrity.

Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
This is a tough one. I have many happy memories at Paris’ Social Club. It was the first place I played in this city that I now call my home, and it represents this moment in time when everything was changing and I felt like I was coming into myself and my community, musically. It was magic.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
This is such a tough question, I have so many heroes! I’d say Vice Cooler is the most unsung; he produced my last record and he is such an insanely talented, hardworking force. His originality, his work ethic, his level of attention to detail, his musical mind - I’ve never met anyone else who is in his league and most people don’t know his name (though they’ve probably heard something he’s worked on).

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
I was obsessed with The B-52s when I was like 5 years old, I would pretend a wooden spoon was my microphone and leap around the kitchen. 'Private Idaho' is still a banger.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'The Passenger' by Iggy Pop was the first song I learned on guitar, I played it endlessly in my angsty teenage room.

One record you would keep forever?
'The Downward Spiral' by Nine Inch Nails is the gift that keeps on giving.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Well if you only knew the things you do to me, I’d do anything to confuse the enemy"

From 'The Beat' by Elvis Costello.

A song you wished you had written?
'Metal' by Gary Numan.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Corrupter' by Louisahhh.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ by Miley Cyrus.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'You Gonna Want Me' by Tiga.

Best song to end an all-nighter?
'The Last Song' by Trisomie 21.

Any new bands you are into at the moment?
Amyl and The Sniffers, I’m obsessed!
