03Interview

Name, where are you from?
S: Seb, from Jersey lol but based in Brighton now.
Th: Theo, Brighton born and bred.
Tm: Thom, Beacons Bottom and proud.

Describe your style in three words?
S: Since lockdown, I’d say, dirty, smelly, pessimistic.
Th: In the sale.
Tm: Same every day.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
S: Crack Cloud at Horatio’s Bar during The Great Escape, loadsa people kickin' butt on stage big vibes!
Th: Seeing the Gene Clark 'No Other' band play through one of my favourite records at End Of the Road was very special. The fact that they only did the two shows made it even better.
Tm: Probably Radiohead at South Park in Oxford just cause it was a special moment to see my favourite band with my mates, and tbf I still love 'em.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
S: Devo and Black Sabbath - I don't think anyone could give a reason why that wouldn’t be the best.
Th: Yeah Black Sabbath but with Neil Young circa 1970 opening.
Tm: Sh*t yeh!

Which subcultures have influenced you?
S: I’ve gone through phases of discovering all the classics from early metal, grunge, electronic and new wave. They’ve all had certain bits that have stuck with me, however, I don’t have the brain to give reasons why though unfortunately, much apologies.
Th: The whole Nick Lowe/Stiff Records scene has influenced my taste a lot, I feel they were ahead of their time in terms of production and their approach to punk music on the radio.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
S: Probably a small dinosaur or maybe a couple of Homo Erectus, could be vibes?
Th: At this point in time it would just be nice to see my mates.
Tm: You're meant to say like Gandhi or something but I’d probably just love to have a laugh with Bob Mortimer and Matt Berry.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
S: The Hope & Ruin in Brighton is probably my favourite, had a lot of good times there, plus it always sounds great and they put on so many good bands.
Th: My favourite venue I've played is Uebel und Gefährlich in Hamburg. All analogue monitoring with three floors of pro audio stores beneath it? Yes, please.
Tm: I love the Brudenell in Leeds or Brixton obv, but the sound is pretty poo.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
S: 100% Ted Foster of Bloody Death - He releases the best lo-fi indie rock and writes and records it all himself, big legend I love him. Go check him out!!!
Th: Again, I would mention Gene Clark. His solo material was massively underrated at the time and only now getting the recognition it deserves.
Tm: Killing Joke, they never get the recognition they deserve.
