03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Ella Zheng, Singapore.

What music defines the teenage you?
Emo Music. I am an only child, I grew up being very protected by my parents. Every little thing I did needed my parents' permission and I resented that. I often blast My Chemical Romance on my Sony CD boombox (which I am still using) and sung as loudly as I can as a form of protest.

A song from your favourite album?
'I Dare You' by The XX. I love the lyrics and I also love the music video. Young adolescents, young love. The music created by The XX is so calming, a little nostalgic and very captivating.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Doses & Mimosas' by Cherub. All-time favourite.

What new music are you listening to?
LION BABE. Spotify helped me discover LION BABE and I am really liking what I hear.

What are you working on at the moment?
A mentor and close friend of mine recently commissioned me to created an art piece for her new house. I started out scared and excited at the same time. However, as of now, I am enjoying the process of how the piece is coming together.
