Name?
Louis Berry.

Where are you from?
Liverpool.

What do you do?
Singer / Songwriter.

Describe your style in three words?
Keeping it real.

You can make a record with anyone from history who would it be and why?
Johnny Cash, the most honest man in music. 'Folsom Prison Blues' - love that riff!

What's the best gig you've ever been to?
My own, I don't really go to gigs I just play them. My Song 'Restless' - love it when the crowd sing that one back!

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
None. I don't get inspired by artists. I appreciate a lot of artists, but they don't inspire me to make music. I don't want to be like anyone else, I'm doing my own thing.

You can spend an hour with anyone from history, who would it be and why?
Jesus, so I wouldn't have to figure out whether some fella with a posh accent in a robe told us the correct story.

If you could share the bill with any British band from history, who would it be and why?
The Beatles, my fan base from one show would last a lifetime haha..

What music did you listen to growing up?
Anything from Frank Sinatra to Tupac Shakur.

Louis Berry is a rebellious singer/songwriter from Liverpool who channels all the rock n roll greats, with a deep debt to soul and elements of country also apparent in the music he makes.

Louis is currently working on his debut album, which is being recorded in Nashville and will likely be released early in 2018.

You can catch him at a host of UK & EU Festivals this summer and he will also play a Headline show at the Koko, London on 31st May 2017.

04Playlist Notes

What's was the first song you played on repeat?
Sam Cooke album. My grandad gave me his album and I'd never heard of him, I was blown away.

One record you would keep forever?
Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits. If you’re ever feeling down or a bit out of place, Johnny Cash always makes you feel like it's a normal thing that will pass.

A song you wish you had written?
'A Change Is Gonna Come' by Sam Cooke.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Hit Em Up' by 2pac ... I was off the rails.

What was the last piece of music you bought?
'Every Kingdom' by Ben Howard. I stream most things these days.

Is there a song you like that people wouldn't expect?
'Mercy' by Shawn Mendes. I don't usually like cheesy stuff but I like Shawn Mendes. I think he does pop but keeps it from cheesy.

Best love song of all time?
'Get Here' by Oleta Adams.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Subterranean Homesick Blues' by Bob Dylan.

Best song to bring people together?
'Imagine' by John Lennon.

Four songs you can't stop listening to right now?

'Unforgettable' by French Montana feat. Sway Lee.
'We Are Stars' by Callum Beattie.
'Cowboy Song' by Thin Lizzy.
'Reverend' by Kings Of Leon.
