Name?
Jack Mercer

Where are you from?
London

What do you do?
Frontman in London band, The Carnabys

Describe your style in 3 words?
Smart, contemporary, versatile.

How should your music be listened to?
Loud, preferably live, or with a drink in your hand before you go out.

What do you miss about home when you're on tour?
My mum's cooking, eating Costa toasties every day isn't the one.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Damon Albarn definitely, the man's a genius.

What was the first song you played on repeat?
'Blank Generation' by Richard Hell and The Voidoids

A song from your favourite album?
'So Real' by Jeff Buckley from Grace.

Song you wish you had written?
'The Universal' by Blur, it was different to anything they'd done at the time, the level of intricate and precisely layered instrumentation shows how clever they are as a band, and at that point, how far they could have gone and did get to.

The Song with your favourite lyrics?
This changes a lot, Alex Turner is definitely a regular favourite, but this week i'm gonna go for 'Jobseeker' by Sleaford Mods.

4 songs by new bands you can’t stop listening to right now?

Uncle Jill - Pile
There's something I love about that American rock sound, it's the same with the first Alabama Shakes album and early Kings Of Leon. This whole album from Pile is a lot heavier, but ties in in my head and I can't get enough of it. It's the first album I've found in a long time that I can have on repeat all day.

I'll Be Around - The Growlers
Their new album was produced by Julian Casablancas (The Strokes) which I found really interesting. I've always been a Growlers fan, and they've smashed it again with their new album. Particularly like this song though.

Truth - Alexander
I found this through shazam whilst being dragged around a shop by my girlfriend. Alexander is ex Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, very clever musician. The whistle is so haunting!

Tenement Song - Pixies
Always loved Pixies, they've smashed it again, love the whole album, thought I'd pick the single.
