Turnover

Bassist — Virginia

Name
Daniel Dempsey

What do you do?
Bass

Describe your style in three words?
I don’t know.

How should your music be listened to?
I think people should just decide that for themselves. I have seen a lot of people say they’ve listened to us to get through so many different situations in life and that’s all we want. Take what we made and make it yours.

What do you miss about home when you’re on tour?
Privacy. For us a normal day of tour is: wake up at someone’s house/hotel together, drive a few hours to the show together, hang at the venue together, go to someone’s house/hotel together, and then repeat. I love my band mates so it’s really not that bad but when I’m weeks/months into a tour I find myself wanting a day at home with no responsibility and not having to talk to someone more than anything else.

Turnover appear at Something In the Way festival, presented by Run For Cover Records and Fred Perry - taking place on December 14th in New York, with a pre-show the day before in Boston.

First track you played on repeat?
My dad got me into The Ramones as a kid so probably something off their greatest hits. I can’t really think of a specific song I was obsessed with at that time.

One record you would keep forever?
Oasis - (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?

Song that defines the teenage you?
My Chemical Romance - 'Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us'

A song lyric that has inspired you?
Most David Bazan songs.

Best Gig you have ever been to?
I saw David Bazan in a living room last year and that blew me away.

A song you wished you had written?
'Wonderwall'. Everyone knows that damn song. It’s a classic.

Four new songs you can’t stop playing now?

'Dope on a Rope' - The Growlers
'Tear Drops' - David Bazan
'Toxic Boombox' - Angel Du$t
'Peace On Earth' - Culture Abuse
