03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Yasmin Kiddle, North London.

Describe your style in three words?
Street, Casual, Tom-boyish.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Nao @ O2 Academy Brixton 2019. The visuals of the whole gig were nuts, her voice is so distinctive. She’s so inspirational and empowering to watch in person.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Amy Winehouse, so I can get the chance to watch her live! Frank Ocean, his creative talent is insane, he’s one of my favourite artists.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
As a kid, my brother and sister used to listen to a lot of garage/grime and R&B so I naturally got into that too. The rawness of those cultures is something that has stuck with me. My mum listened to soul and my dad was an indie rock fan so I heard a huge mixture of music. As I got older I discovered some new artists and bands such as Chris Brown, Neyo, Paramore, Arctic Monkeys & Bloc Party.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
2Pac, his outlook on life was amazing, he was so creative… plus I really wanna know what happened.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
It’s got to be between the SSE Hydro in Glasgow or The Olympia Theatre in Dublin. The Hydro was my first experience in a really big venue so was very special for me. The Olympia Theatre is just so beautiful and has loads of character.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Whoever started the YouTube channel 'Colors'! I’ve discovered so much new music & artists through them man.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'You Really Got Me' by The Kinks. As a kid, I would always ask Dad to put it on so we could dance around the living room like nutters!

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Take You Down' by Chris Brown.

One record you would keep forever?
'Stir It Up' by Bob Marley. It’s my feel-good tune.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“I’m just a dreamer but I’m hanging on.”

From 'The Dreamer' on The Tallest Man On Earth's EP 'Sometimes The Blues Is Just The Passing Bird'.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Get Down On It' by Kool & The Gang.

A song you wished you had written?
'After The Love Has Gone' by Earth, Wind & Fire.
