The Fall

London / November 2014

Wednesday 26th November 2014

Continuing the highly influential series of Sub-Sonic Live shows, the most recent to perform at The Garage, London, were British underground icons, The Fall, with support coming from fellow Mancunians, PINS.

The Fall

"The Fall, always different, always the same”. The favourite band of legendary radio DJ John Peel, and the template for a generation of artists determined not to conform to establishment. The Fall are as prolific now as they were in the late 1970s - from the post-punk era to today’s musical landscape, with a new studio album planned for 2015.

Playing to a packed out venue – this live version of ‘Dedication' was a highlight of a hypnotic 90 minute show.

Other tracks performed included 'Jungle' and 'Hittite Man' (see below) with more exclusive footage coming soon.

PINS are Faith, Anna, Lois, and Sophie. They started playing together in early 2011, with Sophie joining in February 2013. PINS self-released their first songs (A. Eleventh hour / AA. Shoot you) through their own label ‘Haus of PINS’ in May 2012 along with a debut video for ‘Eleventh Hour’ directed by Sing. J. Lee. The tape sold out within a few hours and the video received a great deal of attention for the band. Later that year PINS worked with Bella Union to release their ‘Luvu4lyf’ EP on 10” glitter vinyl – now sold out (500). The EP was followed by their first UK tour, and the band later signed with Bella Union, going on to release their first Album ‘Girls Like Us’. ‘Girls Like Us’ was also the lead track from the album working again with Sing J Lee on their video.

2014 saw PINS release ‘Girls Like Us’ stateside in March accompanied by a string of shows at SXSW including one with Green Days alter ego band Foxboro Hot Tubs. They also re-recorded Shoot You/ Eleventh House for a limited edition Record Store Day release on a heart shaped vinyl. Working again with long time collaborator Sing J Lee on their video premiered on Harpers Bazaar.

Work on their follow-up record has already commenced with the album being recorded with Dave Catching (QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal) in his Joshua Tree studio later this month and a release date expected to come early 2015.

The gig was the latest in the series of sold-out events, other artists covered include Clean Bandit, cutting edge noise makers Factory Floor, Temples and influential heritage artists including Lee 'Scratch' Perry and The Charlatans.
