Dandy Warhols

New Single, Album & Tour Announced

Monday 1st February 2016

The Dandy Warhols have just announced the release of their new album 'Distortland' which will be released on Dine Alone Records on April 8th.

The Dandy Warhols formed in Portland, Oregon back in 1994 and have since become legends of the indie scene thanks to their unique blend of neo-psychedelia and pop.

The band consists of Courtney Taylor-Taylor (vocals, guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboards), Peter Holmstrom (guitar), and Brent DeBoer (drums), the same line up has endured since 1998 when Brent replaced Eric Hedford on drums.

The band recently shared the album track 'You Are Killing Me' - their first taste of new music since 2012's 'This Machine', watch the new lyric video below.

'Distortland' was first recorded in Courtney Taylor's basement on an 80s cassette recorder with the band putting on the finishing touches in the studio. Jim Lowe, best known for his work with Taylor Swift and Beyonce, mixed the album. Courtney notes that the end result is an album that is "organised like a pop record but still has the sonic garbage in there."

4 - Catcher In The Rye
5 - STYGGO

The Dandy Warhols also recently announced that they signed to Dine Alone Records. Founded in 2005 in St. Catherines, Canada, Dine Alone Records (also home to bands such as Trail Of Dead, Alexisonfire, BRONCHO, Fidlar and many more) is an independent label based out of Toronto, Nashville and Los Angeles.

Label founder and owner Joel Carriere said,

"My introduction to The Dandy Warhols pre-dates the internet, I was 21 years old and working at a record store and Good Will Hunting was blowing up and the soundtrack was selling a ton. I wasn't at that age yet to fully appreciate Elliott Smith so I never really put on the soundtrack at work. While watching Good Will Hunting at the theatre, I remember asking myself what song that was in the background of the legendary scene when Will comes over to help out Chuckie with this arrogant MIT student. I didn't have a cell phone at the time so I definitely did not have Shazam, I usually was the human Shazam! That week at the record store I scanned over the soundtrack and boom! It was The Dandy Warhols and the song just so happened to be on their full length record ‘The Dandy Warhols Come Down’. I couldn't be more thrilled that this record store clerk is now working with the band that had such an impact back then."
