Tom Rowlett - Dexter's frontman, has kindly answered a few questions for Fred Perry Subculture, which you can read below.

How did you all meet and decide to make music together?
Me and Ben grew up near each other - we are friends from the East End (London). We met the two Chris's in pubs round Old St, and Jamie worked with Ben at the Vibe Bar. Just all shared the same ideas and loved the same music so thought we would give the band thing a go!

How did you decide on the name Dexters?
I got kicked out of a night club once - the bouncer who did it was called Dexter and I told him that if he let me back in, I'd name my band after him. He let me back in and I kept my word!

How would you describe your sound?
It's that big guitar sound with hooks galore.

Who did you grow up listening to?
My dad was a blues man so was always listening to Big Bill Broonzy and John Lee Hooker stuff like that. He also turned me on to The Who ,Small Faces and The Kinks - they sent me on my way to bands like The Jam, Clash, Oasis and The La's.

What influences you, other than music?
Everything and anything really, life in general.

What new music are you listening to at the moment?
Just got the new Black Lips album - I'm loving that. As for new bands we're all really liking The Orwells.

Do you associate with any subcultures?
Yeah but I'm a bit frantic and I cant make my mind up! I sort of dip my toes in a few things - I tend to just like what I like. Mod shirt with a Rocker hair cut haha.

What's been the best show you've played recently and why?
Supporting Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at The 100 Club was something else. We all love that band it was a honour to share the stage with them.

Who are your biggest style Icons?
Kasabian for sure.

What's next for Dexters?
Massive UK tour then we take the show on to Europe then loads of festivals its gonna be a great year.
