With the online and printed press alight with chatter about Morrissey's 'Autobiography', and its publication by Penguin Classics, what better time to release a DVD marking 25 years as a solo performer?
The live DVD, '25:Live', was filmed at an intimate Morrissey gig at a Los Angeles High School in March 2013, the first authorised filmed performance in almost a decade. Watch the trailer below:
Tickets to the concert in the 1,800-seater school auditorium were sold out in 12 seconds.
The film opens with attending fans talking about their devotion to the singer, in a manner reminiscent of the Bowie fans filmed entering the Hammersmith Odeon in the 1973 film, 'Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' - footage which now acts as a document to the zeitgeist surrounding Bowie at that point in his career, when he had to break up the band.
'Morrissey 25:Live' looks sure to become a document of Morrisseys' solo output - and - his fans' devotion to him, as his solo career celebrates its Silver anniversary.
The performance itself features many classic tracks from Morrissey’s back catalogue including 'Meat Is Murder', 'Everyday Is Like Sunday', 'Please, Please Please Let Me Get What I Want' and 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side'.
