Name
Rascalton

Where are you from?
Glasgow, Scotland

What do you do?
Jack: lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
Steve: lead guitar and backing vocals.

Describe your style in three words?
Scruffy yet sharp

If you could make a record with anyone from history?
Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, simply because he is an absolute don.

What’s the best gig/show you’ve ever been to and why?
Steve: Definitely Libertines at the Barrowlands. Someone asked us a few years before it what our ultimate show would be and we said that because we never thought it would happen. Thankfully it did!
Jack: Libertines Barrowlands 100%.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Jack: Joe Strummer has been a huge influence for me personally but also Mike Skinner of The Streets. Lyrically these guys have been the biggest influence.
Steve: I'd say The Clash have been a big influence on our sound. Also Slaves mainly for the aggression and energy that they put into their music.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Steve: Maybe like Albert Einstein, just to see what the f*ck he was sayin' to it. He seemed like he'd be a good laugh.

Which British subculture means the most to you?
Toss up between mods or punks.
Both were huge for young people when the going got tough especially the punk subculture and that's all we want to do.

If you could share the bill with any British band in history?
The Clash because they were bad ass motherf*ckers. The world doesn't have enough bands that will stick their fingers up to anything they don't agree with.

What music did you listen to growing up?
Steve: I always remember my parents having on like Meat Loaf, Queen, Elvis stuff like that when I was really young. Arctic Monkeys, however, were my first love.
Jack: I listened to a lot of ska and early kind of punk stuff growing up although The Libertines were always my favourite band. I listened to stuff like The Specials, Toots and Maytals, The Jam, The Clash and the Buzzcocks. Really got my dad to thank for my music taste.

Rasclaton are one of the most exciting punk orientated bands to come out of Glasgow at the moment. See them live across the UK in November and December, and across Europe supporting Benjamin Booker.
