Sissy and The Blisters, might already be on your radar, having had some notable radio play and celebrity DJ endorsements, following early singles "Things May Change" and "We Are The Others". This striking looking foursome from Guildford are due to release their debut album in early 2012, but before then there is an EP, "Let Her Go" (released on Fierce Panda 3rd October), and it is that EP that we are talking about today. You can get a flavour of what to expect from the title track below.

Fronted by vocalist James Geard who has a style reminiscent of Nick Cave doing an impressive Ian Curtis impression (or Ian Curtis doing an impressive Nick Cave impression), the band make very good use of their signature Vox Organ, which helps cement the foundations of their garage ethos (no odd outbuilding metaphor intended). Some nice reverbed 50s-60s glisandos here and there, and the package starts to take shape nicely.

"Let Her Go" is the most angular of the five tracks on the EP, starting off what appears to be a nocturnal suite of songs about ending relationships, having nowhere to go, blaming lovers and drunken one night stands.

For us the stand out track on the EP is "Mystics", perhaps the darkest and most psychobilly styled of what's on offer here, but the most interesting, given the nicely proportioned mix of influences it displays. Characteristics sure to help Sissy And The Blisters stand out in what is sure to become, or is, a saturated genre filling the tight space between the tail end of the downbeat angular movement and highly energised garage rock revival.

"Let Her Go" track listing (currently stated):
1. Let Her Go
2. Got No Home
3. You Girl
4. Sleeping around at night
5. Mystics
