The Public Image Is Rotten

A behind-the-scenes look at John Lydon and PiL

Tuesday 24th July 2018

Despite the notoriety John Lydon garnered during his period working under his Rotten pseudonym with Sex Pistols, his years as John Lydon of Public Image Limited (PiL) outnumber those with Sex Pistols greatly. Formed in the aftermath of the Sex Pistols' break up, PiL's output from 1978's 'First Edition' to their most recent ‘What The World Needs Now…’ has continued to challenge convention. The band's recent live outings have also proved that they are as vital a force as ever, with gig's including a SubcultureLive performance at London's 100 Club.

'The Public Image Is Rotten' offers a behind-the-scenes look at one of music’s most influential and iconoclastic figures. Former and current bandmates, as well as fellow counterculture innovators such as Thurston Moore, add their own accounts of the PiL history to exclusive archive material and live footage.

The Public Image is Rotten (Songs from the Heart) Box Set will be released on July 20, 2018, coming in the form of a staggering 5CD/2DVD set as well as a 6LP set.

You can also still catch screenings of the film at:
August 6 - Home Cinema, Manchester
August 9 - Electric Cinema, Birmingham
August 25 - Irish Film Institute, Dublin
