03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Finn Doyle; immigrated from Co Wicklow, Ireland. Currently residing in Melbourne via Geelong.

What do you do?
Figurative painter, currently completing my Bachelor of Fine Art.

Describe your style in three words?
Surprisingly put together.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to in Australia?
Seeing Roland Tings in 2017 was genuinely life-changing; 'Who U Love' will always stand out as a magical track to hear live.

Which Australian subcultures have influenced you?
The Melbourne/Geelong club scene was definitely a gateway into a whole new world of music for me, snowballing my love for dance genres across the board.

Best Australian musician?
Currently, X CLUB. has to be one of our best exports from the country; currently stoked for their upcoming EP on the GTOWN Recs label.

Where is your favourite independent venue in Australia?
The Gasometer Hotel.

What is Australia’s best-kept secret?
Geelong's Art & Music scene.

Best place to hang out in Australia?
Admittedly, it’s started to lose some of its lustre for me now, but I still hold some very dear memories of kicking back with friends at Captain/There There, Geelong.

'Eyes Without a Face' by Billy Idol. Used to rinse mum's Billy Idol CD as a kid.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Chamber of Reflection' by Mac Demarco.

Tough choice. Either 'Clube Da Esquina' by Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges, or 'Barter 6' by Young Thug; My favourite tracks from both albums would be 'O Trem Azul' and 'Constantly Hating', respectively.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“I’ve shut my window and demanded a breeze, I’m wondering what's wrong with me”,

From 'A Comma' by Serpentwithfeet. Don’t know why, but that one’s always stuck with me.
