03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Too Many Layers

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Linkin Park - One Step Closer

I loved this song so much as a kid that I hosted a talent show in my garden and invited all my neighbours just so I could play a tennis racket guitar and mime along. Two people showed up.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Beatles - A Day In The Life - Remastered 2009

Favourite song, favourite album, favourite band.

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Streets - Has It Come to This?

I've seen The Streets four times now, always an incredible experience, and every time this song plays you're guaranteed to get absolutely covered in half empty plastic cups of beer thrown from the back.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Trio Ternura - A Gira

Absolute gold.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Reckonwrong - Half a Pill

Been on repeat the past week.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

A Tribe Called Quest - Scenario - LP Mix

When I was 22 I worked at the Fred Perry store in Nottingham, this was one of my favourite songs to stick on the speakers full blast after closing whilst doing stocktake.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Stevie Wonder - Did I Hear You Say You Love Me

I remember quoting the sleeve notes from Hotter Than July on my job application to work the phones at Dominos Pizza when I was 16, I can't remember what the quote was, or what relevance it had, but I got the job.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime - 2005 Remastered Version

Makes me want to put on a suit and dance in purgatory.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Susso - Ansumana

It's 7am on Saturday morning, you're sat on the sofa, the sun is beaming through round the edges of the curtains, this song is playing, you turn to your mate who hasn't said a word for 45 minutes and politely ask them to leave so you can go to bed.
