Adrian Benn
South East London
I'm the Singer in the Ska/Reggae/Dub band They Say Jump .
Just do you .
With a crowd of people, all prepared to jump and skank till the early hours.
My family and my favourite spot on the sofa... Got the butt groove just the way I like it.
The Specials, The Beat, Roots Manuva, The Selecter, Roni Size, Goldie... This could be a long list so maybe I'll stop there.
They Say Jump are a David Rodigan approved London-based Ska/Reggae outfit who take musical cues from the likes of The Specials, Bob Marley & The Police. Their latest EP 'Lift Your Mood' was released in August 2016 and is available on Spotify/iTunes.
I grew up listening to my Mum and Dad's Soca tapes and vinyl... 'Dollar Wine' by Byron Lee and The Dragonaires was the one! I must have been about 5 or 6 when I first heard this track (and learnt the dance) this tune will still get a reload when I hear it.
Roni Size's Reprazent is still one of the greatest albums and 'Brown Paper Bag' is an absolute banger.
'Sober' by Childish Gambino - discovered Childish after a friend gave me one of his free mix tapes... His flow and creativity is on point.
'Rappers Delight' by The Sugarhill Gang - I learnt the rap in my youth and I've never forgotten it.
