Name, where are you from?
We are Blanketman. We are based in Manchester.

Describe your style in three words?
Just woke up.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The best gig I’ve ever been to was The Brian Jonestown Massacre at Leeds Cockpit in 2014. They played for like 2-3 hours I think and played all the greats in their back catalogue.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
The Fall, 'Grotesque' line up - I never got to see them in any form and would have loved to. ABBA - To have a good boogie and also see how The Fall would react to ABBA.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Our bass player Jeremy was a goth for four years, platform boots, chains and all “because he was a f*cking teenager looking for a personality”. In terms of music, the 1970s New York scene. The Velvets, The Modern Lovers, Warhol all that stuff going on was amazing.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Lou Reed – Wouldn’t mind some songwriting tips…

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
The Peer Hat in Manchester is close to our hearts, the guy who runs it (Nick) gave us our first gig there and it's always full of lovely talented people.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Nick from the Peer Hat. All-round great guy and vital to the Manchester music scene.

Blanketman will perform at Night & Day Cafe, Manchester on Friday 26th November 2021 to celebrate the venues 30th anniversary.

The show will also act as a launch party for Blanketman's new limited edition double A-side 7" single, 'Yard Sale / The Signalman'.

Of an avocado when he would drive

Down their street in his El Dorado

He could walk down your street

And girls could not resist his stare

Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole"

'Pablo Picasso' by The Modern Lovers.
