Describe your style in three words?
Chav. Emo. Madness.
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
Madvillain - Fancy Clown
I was suffering through a pretty bad break up. MF Doom got me through, and this song hit a nerve. Nobody is really worth your tears when they do you dirty, you know.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
Kendrick Lamar - untitled 08 | 09.06.2014.
Kendricks lyricism leaves me speechless, whatever I say would not do him justice. This album is a collection of demos, songs that never made it onto his previous albums. It goes to show what you may not think is worthwhile, resonates for a lifetime with others.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Mr Jukes - Somebody New
Field Day in London. One of the best experiences of my life so far. Seeing Mr Jukes live too was an absolute dream. He had a full blown jazz band on stage with him, I could not believe my eyes.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Estelle - American Boy
I mean, this is my jam. Everybody got that jam, and this be mine.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
The Weeknd - Hardest To Love
I feel like I've sat on The Weeknd for far too long. When this album came out I realised I've wasted some valuable listening time because this is so so good.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
Kanye West - Black Skinhead
I listen to Kanye everywhere, you got to. He gets everyone pumped up.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
My Chemical Romance - Welcome to the Black Parade
Don't judge me, I was an emotional teenager (I'm saying that like I've grown out of it, I definitely have not). Whenever I hear those first few seconds it creates such nostalgia for memories of lip piercings, side fringes and studded belts. An easier time.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
Amy Winehouse - He Can Only Hold Her
I feel like Amy could have been singing about me. This song really touched me, I couldn't believe how similar the likeness was. She has this power to make you feel that.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Earl Sweatshirt - Sunday (feat. Frank Ocean)
Earl and Frank, together. You got to feel that.
