03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Mod, suedehead, punk.

The first track you played on repeat?

Sex Pistols - Friggin' In The Riggin'

One of my first experiences with punk was this naughty nautical number on one of my am's 45s. I was only eleven and although I found it hilarious I was banned from playing it on the stereo!

A song from your favorite album?

The Specials - Rat Race

Anthemic for those of us who love doing our creative bits on the side but have to do the perilous side of actual work. This song still speaks volumes now.

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Specials - You're Wondering Now

another dose of The Specials. I've seen them twice and this song, in particular, has helped out in some tough times.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Prince Buster - One Step Beyond

The original is always best. 'nuff said.

A new song you're listening to?

Mo-Dettes - Masochistic Opposite

Discovered these via YouTube the other day. like the second coming of The Slits, but with twists and turns to their music.

Best song to turn up loud?

Ultramagnetic MC's - Give the Drummer Some

Kool Keith is one of my favourite emcees. His ability to paint imaginative and creative works with his raps on his track is something special. this track was later popular by the prodigy sampling it.

A song that defines the teenage you?

Atari Teenage Riot - Start The Riot!

when I was in my early 20s, I dropped a lot of my punk and metal stance for harder variants inclusive to the electronic genre. This band was one of the many I held in much regard for my music taste now. Completely dissonant but thoroughly punk.

An anthemic song?

Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile

My music awakening and love for the guitar starts here. I've owned a Hendrix tie-dye tee with the 'Are You Experienced' album cover on it since I've been sixteen.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Dean Parrish - I'm on My Way

Understandably a lovely way to close a do. Among all the music here I enjoy a good northern soul night, with vinyl in tow. This track is a request of mine when the nights are over.
