Name, where are you from?
Hiya! We’re Natalie, Tree, Louise and Erin from the all feminine, all threatening, working and class post-punk quartet Loose Articles and our stomping ground is Manchester!
Describe your style in three words?
E: Rough and ready.
T: Teal and leather.
L: Everton training kit.
N: Orange bargain bin.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
T: Shania Twain at the MEN. I wrote to the lead fiddle player (Rodney) to ask when they were coming to Manchester. When he replied he didn’t know. Then it happened and they came to the MEN - it was the best night a ten-year-old could ask for.
E: The Fall at Brudenell Social Club, November 2013. Mark kept shouting “Save the Leeds people”. It was great. It's stuck with me ever since.
L: Ty at Gorilla because it went off!
N: Slipknot at the MEN just as I finally got to see my favourite childhood band. I didn't leave the pit and I was covered in bruises and bleeding when I left. Mega!
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
T: Shania Twain and Oasis.
N: Slipknot and Manic Street Preachers.
E: Nirvana and The Clash.
L: Deep Purple and Bob Dylan.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Collectively, our influential subcultures loosely are 1960s psychedelic counterculture, the British punk movement, Burnley folk club and rave on.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
T: Robert Johnson so I can see if he actually sold his soul to the devil and to see if the devil would have mine for the pub to reopen.
N: Joey Jordison. He’s an amazing musician, producer and the love of my life haha.
E: I would resurrect Mark E. Smith for his Coronavirus commentary.
L: Artimus Pyle - He was one of the few people to survive the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash and he has a great name and is a great drummer.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
E: My favourite venue is the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. We don’t have anything like it in Manchester. It’s like watching a band in your living room and I’ve seen some of my favourites in there.
As a band, our favourite venue to play is the Ritz in Manchester. It’s a beautiful Grade II listed building with a sprung dance floor. Originally a dance hall, the sound in there is amazing. It’s probably the biggest venue we’ve played so far. But watch this space!
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
N: Kevin Ayers and Asha Bhosle. Sorry, I can’t just pick one!
T: Piccadilly Rats.
L: Tommy Bolin.
E: Charlie Potatoes.
The first track you played on repeat?
T: 'Cartoon Heroes' by Aqua.
E: 'Territorial Pissings' by Nirvana.
L: 'We’re Going to Ibiza' by Venga Boys.
N: 'You're Gorgeous' by Babybird.
A song that defines the teenage you?
T: 'Put A Donk On It' by Black Out Crew.
N: 'Hitchin’ a Ride' by Green Day.
E: 'Rusholme Ruffians' by The Smiths.
L - 'Wasteland' by The View.
One record you would keep forever?
'Up the Disco' by Loose Articles.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
T: “There’s no way you can stop….the school of rock!”
From The School of Rock Film.
E: “Coming in a mess going out in style. I ain’t good looking but I’m someone’s child.”
From 'D’you Know What I Mean' by Oasis.
L: “Sheila, she’s dealer, drops off in a blue three wheeler, shaves her legs with a ‘tata peeler”
From 'Strife' by Twisted Wheel.
N: “Some people think I’m bonkers but I just think I’m free. But I’m just living my life there's nothing crazy about me”
From 'Bonkers' by Dizzee Rascal.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
T: 'Oops Upside Your Head' by The Gap Band.
N: 'Cha Cha Slide' by DJ Casper.
E: 'Macarena' by Los Del Rio.
L: 'Saturday Night' by Whigfield.
A song you wished you had written?
'James Bond Theme' by John Barry, Monty Norman.
'Toxic' by Britney Spears.
'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple.
'Independent Women' by Destiny's Child.
Best song to turn up loud?
E: 'Hanging On The Telephone' by Blondie.
N: 'Rock DJ' by Robbie Williams.
T: 'Nice 'N' Sleazy' by Stranglers.
L: 'Transmission' by Joy Division.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
There’s too many songs to pick but perhaps expect us to listen to Kisstory, Legacy, Capital and Unicy radio stations when driving about in our hot wheels.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
N: 'I Love The Nightlife' by Alicia Bridges.
T: 'Anemone' by Brian Jonestown Massacre.
E: 'Rock Your Baby' by George McCrae.
L: 'Satellite of Love' by Lou Reed.

'Freezer Jesus' by The Red Stains.
'More Boyfriends' by Snooker Season.

'County lines' by Ventrelles.
'Every Sale Is The Same' by Dead Cherry.
