The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Plastic Bertrand - Ca plane pour moi

My dad had a compilation album of different singles from '70s and '80s New wave acts. H would play always new wave tracks from it in the car. I remember asking for him for this track over and over because it was exciting and had a novelty appeal.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Pogues - Boys from the County Hell

This more than any Pogues album is full of contrasting different subcultures which mean a lot to me, from the Punk ethos to classic folky instrumentals. This track in particular off the ups and downs of life which are in all of Shane Macgowan's iconic songwriting.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Martin Carthy - And a Begging I Will Go

I’ve been to many fast energetic concerts. But watching Martin Carthy perform in a back room of a pub called the rose and monkey in Manchester left a big impression. No dancing, no effects just playing his guitar and singing but the silence of the audience showed his pure energy

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Rolling Stones - It's Only Rock'n'Roll (But I Like It) - Remastered 2009

When someone spins this record it become the perfect opportunity to bring out a few of the speciality moves. A well practiced Jagger strut will always accompany this track.

The Big Peach - Down So Long

It’s the newest release from a band formed fairly recently but is a great example of the bands style. Proper good retro sound like a classic '60s Merseybeat band

Get out in the sun, get your speaker out and annoy the neighbours with this.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Ultravox - Young Savage

The opening guitar riff and aggression just matches the feelings you have as a young man, and the lyrics “anything goes when no one knows your name” just sums up the teenage need to find your identity and get yourself out there.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

The Who - 5:15

The album itself is just fantastic, but when you’ve watched the accompanying film and you reach the scene where jimmy runs away from everything it just adds so much more to the track.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Rod Stewart - Maggie May

I myself love to go out with a bang, and belting this out on karaoke is the best way to finish without a doubt.
