Describe your style in three words?
Timeless, avant garde, distracting.
The first track you played on repeat?
The Shins - Australia
I was revising for GCSE maths and then started browsing YouTube for “obscure indie songs” and found this charm, it’s the vocal melodies of James Mercer and his lyrical style that brought me in and non-stop till this day, it will be the most played song of my life so far!
A song from your favorite album?
Interpol - Untitled
On vinyl, the way 'Turn On The Bright Lights' opens up to this track is beguiling. When I first heard this my insides just melted. Brilliant song, brilliant album.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Echo & the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
I was invited to a festival to watch them and never in my life did I think I’d see them live, it’s one of my most treasured songs and it’s just so rich and powerful, it makes solace.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
The Fall - Shoulder Pads 1#
On vinyl, in my room, the beat, melody, lyrics are catchy as hell and never gets old, “My powers before them resound / My powers languish in time, doom”.
A new song you're listening to?
Phoebe Green - Reinvent
On Spotify, on a NME playlist, great track, great story line in the lyrics and play on words. The structure of the song is genius, not cringe, it’s truthful, poetic without being too obvious, the mix is balanced and drips like honey.
Best song to turn up loud?
Grauzone - Eisbär
So this song is all in German, a band called Grauzone that didn’t last long, I found them on Spotify and it’s actually insane, the production, screechy distorted guitar and popping synths with German spoken word! Out of this world in full volume.
A song that defines the teenage you?
Sonny & The Sunsets - Strange Love
I heard this on YouTube and had it as my tumblr background song! I was a little into the surf lifestyle and it’s such a great tracks, his delayed distorted vocals and beach boys harmonies is feathery and warm! I loved this song and still do.
An anthemic song?
New Order - Ceremony - 2019 Remaster
I heard it on Spotify, this song uplifts my soul and helps me breathe and think clearly, it’s such a delicate piece of gold, not many people think it’s their best, but I enjoy listening to this track a lot more than most of theirs just because of how it makes me feel.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong
I first heard it on tape I got for 50p at a record store, it’s an incredible song, especially after an all-nighter, I like listening to uncomfortable tracks after an all-nighter just to match the feeling inside as much as possible, which is mostly dark and completely dead!
