A Lily Moore Photo
Lily Moore, Brighton
Street-wood-mac.
Rex Orange County at KoKo. He is brilliant, and the room was so full of love for him that evening. I haven’t felt an atmosphere at a gig that good for a while.
Prince. For obvious reasons, he is the best.
Aretha Franklin. My idol.
My great nan. I’ve never got to meet her but hear she was a bit of a legend.
I know it’s a bit obvious, but I’m going to have to say Brixton Academy. I was supporting Vance Joy there, and having been born in London before moving to Brighton and growing up going to loads of gigs there, it was so surreal and wonderful to get to stand on that stage and perform. Although it was so nerve-wracking it is a night that will stay in my memory forever.
Nick J D Hodgson - 'Suitable'. A f*cking AMAZING SONG.
Born in London, raised in Brighton, Lily Moore developed an early taste for the soulful voices of Etta James, Lauryn Hill and Sam Cook. Lily’s own songwriting has developed into a disarmingly stripped-back style that recalls a young Amy Winehouse or Lianne La Havas. Lily Moore's debut EP 'Not That Special' is out now.
Duffy - 'Warwick Avenue'.
Ash - 'Girl From Mars'.
Fleetwood Mac - 'Rumours'.
“If a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us, To die by your side,
Well, the pleasure and the privilege is mine”
The Smiths - 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out'
Although I don’t listen to their music very often, I think the way he writes is incredible and his lyrics are beautiful.
Sam Cooke - 'A Change is Gonna Come'.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - 'Free Bird'.
Stefflon Don - '16 shots' - I think she’s great.
Chaka Khan - 'I’m every woman'
If the uber driver on the way home is foolish enough to let me use the aux this is sure to be played and sung badly by me and my mates.
