Name, what do you do?
Randy Danistha. Born in Jakarta, 9 October 1984. A songwriter/musician. A member of Indonesian alternative band Nidji, Half of Modular Techno duo Random Brothers, and also a part-time actor.

Describe your style in three words?
Playful, effortless, but timeless.

What does the Fred Perry Shirt mean to you?
For me, the Fred Perry shirt is a symbol of expression for people who fight for their freedom. It's very personal to me.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Disclosure's small-stage gig at Leeds Festival 2012. It was before they became famous.

If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
Pink Floyd, New Order and The Stone Roses.

Another you? Any other career that would have appealed?
Maybe I'd try becoming a track bike athlete because lately, I've been so obsessed with practising at The Velodrome.

One record you would keep forever?
NEW ORDER – SUBSTANCE

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Safe House Club Jakarta with Random Brothers at Mayhem Extended Event.

If you can make a record with anyone from history?
I've always imagined that one day I could have Peter Hook filling in the bassline on a Random Brothers track. That'll be enough.

A song you wished you had written?
'Ode to The Mets' by The Strokes.

04Playlist Notes

'Elephant Stone' by The Stone Roses.
This song introduced me to Manchester's party scene. The Haçienda in '24 Hour Party People' inspired me so much, I immediately felt like I needed to be in a band.

'It's Not Over Yet' by Klaxons.
Wild, .essy but sexy!

'Crystal' by New Order.
The drums in this song ignite the rebellious fire inside of me, it shocks me to my core.

'The Organ' by Brother.
If there's a girl version of Morrisey that I could kiss, these girls would be them.

'Hard To Explain' by The Strokes.
This takes me back to my high school days; crazy times with friends. I'd always hang a razor around my neck, like a necklace. It made no sense at all.

'(R E A L L O V E)' by Factory Floor.
My band, Nidji, went to Manchester to do a photoshoot with legendary photographer Kevin Cummins. He told me to listen to this band and it was mind-blowing. It triggered me to experiment with modular synths.

'I have a love (Overmono Remix)' by For Those I Love.
The type of love songs I like the most.

'The Darkness That You Fear' by The Chemical Brothers.
A very good stimulant for me before cycling at Velodrome.

'Get Free' by The Vines.
Highball time! Let's get wasted!

'Not Enough' by FUR.
"It's a wrap!" I remember this song playing on the bus when we had finished shooting 'Warkop DKI Reborn' the movie (one of Indonesia's legendary comedy acts) in Morocco. It's one of my favourite memories.

'Vapour Trail' by Trespasser William.
5:30 am tunes, and you haven't slept yet.

'Random Collection 0032 "Aurora"' by Random Brothers.
Takes my soul to Iceland. Have a good evening, everyone.
