Name, Where are you from?

My name is Andy Cortes and I am from London. My family are Columbian, though!

What do you do?
I play guitar and I sing in the band Cortes. We’re a three piece rock band from London

Describe your style in three words.
Let’s go with smart, casual, simple…

How should your music be listened to?
Loud, possibly live, and always with a beer in hand!

What do you miss about home when you’re on tour?
It’s the simple things – SLEEP is one of the main things. Also, being able to catch up with the football…

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
The list is extensive but Cream, Eric Clapton, The Stones, Zeppelin, The Beatles and of course Peter Green / Fleetwood Mac. British music is a massive influence on us.

04Playlist Notes

Whipping Post - The Allman Brothers Band
Gotta love that bassline…!!

Are You Experienced Jimi Hendrix
The backwards cymbals and guitars in this track take you to a different world. It’s cosmic.

I Feel Free - Cream
This is one of the all time great intros for me. It grabs me immediately, what a song.

Can’t Stop - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
The riff in this song is something else. The video actually made me want to be in a band in the first place!

She Burns - Foy Vance
This song has been on repeat for me recently. I relate to the words a lot, this is a stunning song!

Out Of The Black - Royal Blood
This song is just badass. Great band!
