Laurie and Isaac, from Kent.

Describe your style in three words:
I – Eclectic, happy, anything.

What music defines the teenage you?
I – For me it would be grime. I remember being at school and everybody playing grime music out their phones and that.
L – Mine was just indie and punk, like The Kooks, The Libertines, The View, The Cribs… so many of them. All of those bands mixed in with punk. That sort of NME genre.

A British icon that has inspired you?
L – Mike Skinner.
I – Ian Dury.

What was the last piece of music you bought?
L – I think it was the XX’s new album… I’m picturing my record collection.
I – I think it was like an RnB playlist off iTunes to put on my USB stick to play at DJ sets haha.
L – I just pre-ordered this new band Life’s album, so that’s the last piece of music I technically bought.

What has been your all-time favourite gig?
I – That we’ve seen or done?
L – That I’ve seen was probably Die Antwoord at Brixton Academy. It was just like mind-boggling. I enjoyed that a lot. For me playing, it has to be Reading and Leeds on the main stage last year. That was just nuts. Playing on the main stage is f***ing insane.
I – Yeah I agree with that.

Which new British bands are you listening to at the moment?
Both – LIFE.
L – And Idles.

What was the first song you played on repeat?
L – ‘Rollin’ by Limp Bizkit.
I – Mine was Billie Piper – ‘Because We Want To’.

A song from your favourite album?
L – That is so hard.
I – Baxter Dury. Ian Dury’s son. He’s really good, it’s collectively one of our favourite albums. What track? 'Isabel' I think.
L – My current favourite album is probably ‘Album’ by PiL, and the song ‘Rise’ off it. I’m obsessed with that tune at the moment. One of my all-time favourite albums, and currently a song I’m listening to all the time. Johnny Lydon’s one of my heroes, I’d love to meet him.

A song you wish you had written?
L – ‘Bank Robber’ by The Clash.
I – ‘Rock The Kasbah’ by The Clash.

Favourite song to inspire change?
L – It’s gonna have to go back to The Clash. Probably ‘Police and Thieves’? You know the Junior Murphy song. It was an early example of mixing white and black culture in London, and I think that is pretty cool.
I – ‘Earth Song’ by Michael Jackson.

Best song to bring people together?
L – ‘All I Wanna Do’ by Sheryl Crow.
I – You put that on in any situation and people are gonna be nodding their heads.
L – People sometimes flick through your Spotify playlists and are like “Sheryl Crow?” and I’m like “put it on”. It’s like the biggest dressing room song of all time. 
I – Yeah I agree with Laurie on that one.

Best love song of all time?
I – Probably Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman, ‘Something Stupid’. Great tune. Once I was going to do karaoke with a girl, and she kept saying ‘what about Something Stupid?’ In my drunken state I thought she was trying to make me do something stupid, and I was like, I don’t like that she’s trying to make me do something stupid.
L – And you went and hid, she was looking for you shouting on the mic.
I – But I would have been so up for doing that song. I was really pissed off with myself like what was I thinking.
L – But you not doing it made me step up to the plate and do a song.
I – Anyway that is probably one of my favourite love songs haha.
L – I think mine is ‘Coma Girl’ by Joe Strummer.
I – What’s the story of that tune?
L – Met her at a festival didn’t he? He’s talking about being at a festival in that song. Maybe ‘Sitting on the Dock of the Bay’ by Otis Redding, but that’s not a love song is it. Actually, scrap that. Mine’s ‘Everything Reminds Me of Her’ by Elliott Smith.

Is there a song you like that people wouldn’t expect?
I – Loads.
L – Probably the Sheryl Crow song to start with.
I – Love a bit of cheese.
L – I genuinely like quite a lot of Robbie Williams. More than a bit to be honest. No, I’ve got a good one – ‘Robert De Niro’s Waiting’ by Bananarama. I heard it on 6Music recently and it blew my mind.
I – I can’t think what that song is.
L – I’ll put it on (finds it on Spotify and plays it). When you think of the ‘80s it’s not the biggest song. It’s the fact it mentions Robert De Niro.
