Brooklyn-based art punk duo Japanther has released a promotional video for the track “Stolen Flowers” from the new LP Eat Like Lisa Act Like Bart, which was released 21 May on Recess Records.
The clip features black and white video images of Japanther (drummer Ian Vanek and bassist Matt Reilly) and a pogo/go-go dancing girl flashing amid a colorful animation of blossoming flowers, paper stickers and falling petals and bullet casings.
Directed by Mason Orfalea, “Stolen Flowers” is pure pop art pastiche and a good fit for Japanther, a band that has appeared alongside synchronized swimmers, atop the Williamsburg Bridge, with giant puppets and marionettes, in the back of a moving truck in Soho, and at shows with giant dinosaurs & BMX bikers flying off the walls.
