Rum Thief

Debut EP - 'Clouded Mind' from Manchester newcomer

Monday 17th August 2015

Rum Thief, from Chorlton, Manchester is the multi-instrumentalist performer and songwriter, Jot Green.

The project began when Green, after playing as a drummer in bands for over ten years, decided to record some songs of his own. Booking into Airtight studio in Chorlton, Manchester he performed the drums, guitars, vocals and backing vocals to produce his first EP 'Clouded Mind', the title track from which you can listen / view below.

Taking on a supporting band to perform his songs, Rum Thief performed at a number of low key gigs and has been busy crafting his new, second EP, 'Reach For The Weather Man'.

With razor sharp lyrics, bold melodies and raw, abrasive guitar playing, the lead tracks on the EP are 'Stitch In Time' and 'Dirty Shoes, with the title track, 'Reach For the Weatherman' invoking the sound of Libertines and The Clash. Rum Thief is an all-round true talented gem as performer, songwriter and producer - a refreshing respite in a world of manufactured chart bands.

His gritty presence and style matches his fiery performance, with outward trepidation and discontent pouring out of the music with courage and resolve.

Rum Thief is composted of enigmatic frontman Jot Green (Vocals, guitars, drums on studio tracks), as well as supporting band members for live shows - Johnny Brown (Lead guitar), Iain McGowen (Bass) and Chris Hobs (Drums).

Rum Thief will next perform on 21st August as the EP Launch Party, at Night and Day Cafe, Oldham St, Manchester in association with Scruff of the Neck Records.
