The world famous London International Ska Festival returns to the capital this Easter (24-27 March 2016) to celebrate its 28th year! Attracting fans and artists from around the globe, the festival salutes all things Ska, from its roots in rhythm & blues, calypso and mento, through to its Jamaican originators, rocksteady, reggae, dub and its migration around the world in the form of 2 Tone, Ska-punk and beyond.
You can find the full programme listings further down this page.
Icons on this year's bill include Don Letts, The Beat, Rhoda Dakar, and Bad Manners - the latter marking their 40th anniversary year at the event. Also appearing is long time Subculture favourites Hollie Cook (pictured) and Manchester's contemporary Ska innovators Sonic Boom Six.
With some truly iconic musical family heritage, Hollie is the daughter of a former member of Culture Club and Sex Pistols Drummer Paul Cook. In an interview with Fred Perry Subculture (see link at end of post) she described her sound as "tropical, psychedelic, disco, lovers’ soul". With two albums to her name, 2011's 'Hollie Cook' and 2014's 'Twice', as well as support slots with the likes of Ziggy Marley and The Stone Roses, if you're at the festival we highly recommend going to watch her set.
