A Kid Fresino Photo
Name, where are you from?
Kid Fresino from Tokorozawa City, Saitama
.
What do you do?
Rapper.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The xx at FUJI ROCK in 2017. There was such a great connection with the audience. I am quite sure that people who were there would understand this. I could feel they were so excited as well. I was there for an act and it was my very first festival. It didn’t take me a second to understand what the whole thing was about for the festival-goers and why artists like to play at festivals.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Probably manga (comic book). Minoru Furuya’s works.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
RED MARQUEE floor in FUJI ROCK JAPAN as it was big.
If you could be on the line up with any band in history?
Yussef Dayes.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Febb.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
All of my favourite musicians are very popular indeed.
The first track you played on repeat?
It would be a track by The Beatles. 'Come Together' was the first track that I thought was cool.
A song that defines the teenage you?
New Order’s 'Temptation'. I didn’t play it on repeat but it’s a track that I could relate to through the music video.
One record you would keep forever?
'Broken Knowz' by Jay Daniel. It’s a release from Technicolour, a sublabel of Ninja Tune. It was my first and personal experience of house music and it made me realize that there is so much good music out there regardless of genres. I then started an event called OFFCENT.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
In NEI’s track 'SLOW CITY VIEW', the part that goes “who’s dissing who, that one’s lame, or that one’s dope. Don’t you find that boring?”
Best song to turn up loud?
Adele - 'Hello'
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Dua Lipa - 'New Rules'. I like her face too.
New bands you are listening to now?
I only just found out about this band but, an Australian band called HTRK.
