Lewis Bootle

Musician — Hertfordshire

Name, where are you from?
Lewis Bootle. Satellite towns off the M25. (Hertfordshire).

Describe your style in three words?
Always changing, literally.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Sticky Fingers at Kentish Town Forum - They had just released their album in 2014, it was a great time in my life and the tracks were absolute bangers, However, the track to nominate is off their first album. It's called 'How To Fly'.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Rolling Stones & The Beatles - who else?

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Hip Hop, Graphic Design & Skateboarding.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
George Orwell, so I can hear his prediction of the next 40 years.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
The Roundhouse in London supporting Frank Turner. I saw my first ever gig there (Enter Shikari) and it's mine to headline someday.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Richard Thompson. His lyrical seasoning and storytelling is some of the best. Not many people know about him. The track to nominate has to be '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' - A story about an old classic motorbike, a bank heist and the love of a redhead in leathers.

The first track you played on repeat?
'The Power Of Love' by Huey Lewis & The News.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Get Up' by Mac Miller. Balled my eyes out when replaying this song when I heard he had died. Must have been how my Dad felt the day Bowie died.

One record you would keep forever?
'Rumours' by Fleetwood Mac because nearly every track is a banger and the sonics feel timeless.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"I’ve got a suitcase full of 50-pound notes,
a half-naked woman and a tongue down my throat"

'I Feel So Good' by Richard Thompson.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'A Little Bit Of Luck' by DJ Luck & MC Neat.

A song you wished you had written?
'Alison' by Elvis Costello.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Your Love' by Frankie Knuckles feat. Jamie Principle.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Tuxedo Junction' by Glenn Miller.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Cocoa Cocoa Butter Kisses' by Chance The Rapper.

Any new bands you are listening to right now?
'Nightmares' by Easy Life.
'Unhealthy' by Bakar.
'Under The Sun' by Jesse James Soloman.
