The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows - Remastered 2009

Anywhere and everywhere I could play it. I used to listen to it with my headphones in, turned up as loud as was possible to drown everything else out.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Beautiful South - You Keep It All In

This is my go-to album no matter what. It was always on in the background growing up. Paul Heaton has been the artist I go back to time and again whether its The Housemartins, The Beautiful South or his solo stuff.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Paul Weller - Whirlpools' End

I saw this performed at the Albert Hall about 10 years ago, he was on top form and I remember it sounding epic in that venue. He made it last about 10 minutes and the crowd loved every second, singing Sha la la la long after the song finished.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

New Street Adventure - Hangin' On / Hangin' Up

Nick came and played a set in our store a few years ago and that really got me into their music. Its got a really cool, modern Style Council vibe about it and i just love it.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Nick Waterhouse - I Feel an Urge Coming On

Don't even know how i found Nick's music but when I did it was great to see there was like 4 albums to get into. I love finding an artist you've never heard before and they've got a big back catalogue to listen to.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

The Black Keys - Little Black Submarines

I love to play this on my sound system at home, turn it right up and just take it all in. The slow build up is worth the payoff when the guitar kicks in.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Ordinary Boys - Talk Talk Talk

I think i was about 15 when this album came out and i saw them play this track on TV on a Saturday morning. They looked really cool and straight away i decided, this is for me! It's the perfect track for a teenager who wants to play guitars really loud in their bedroom.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

The Verve - Love Is Noise

Like most of these songs I've selected I think they work best as they seem to be able to take you away from where you are and allow you to just get lost in the music. Which is what music does at it's best.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Nina Simone - Take Care Of Business

I've done a lot of Djing over the last 10 years and by the end of a night usually in the early hours of the morning, everyone else is too drunk to care what's being played and so i always end the last 15 minutes with what i want to listen to. This is the one i always finish on.
