03Interview

Name?
Meg Williams & Ben Thompson. AKA, Luxury Death.

Where are you from?
Currently based in Manchester.

What do you do?
Luxury Death is an art project focused mainly on music, while also exploring design & zine culture.

Describe your style in three words?
Cheap fashion goth.

What’s the best show you’ve ever been to?
When I (Ben) was 18 I saw a hardcore punk band called Fast Point play their last show in Sheffield. There were about 150 people crammed into the world's smallest pub function room. The floor fell through within 5 minutes and ambulances were called.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Poly Styrene of X-Ray Spex.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Leigh Bowery or Aleister Crowley. We’re just looking for a wild hour.

Which British subculture means the most to you?
Punk changed everything.

If you could share the bill with any artist in history?
Madonna.

What music did you listen to growing up?
We both had very different upbringings which affected our tastes growing up. Ben was a mosher. Meg loved jazz.

Luxury Death is the brainchild of boyfriend/girlfriend duo Ben Thompson & Meg Williams, churning out hauntingly bittersweet lo-fi and producing a small art magazine under the same moniker.

They released their debut EP 'Glue' in February 2017 and were featured as one of the artists on our British New Wave 2017 blog.
