Describe your style in three words?
Indie, geeky, sportswear.
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
Jamiroquai - Canned Heat
My Dad was a big Jamiroquai and Acid Jazz fan and I seem to remember being about 4 or 5 and wanting to go round sliding on the new flooring in the kitchen on my knees singing along to this. There's probably a video of it somewhere which I hope never ever surfaces.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
The Specials - Gangsters - 2015 Remaster
'Gangsters' is pretty much my favourite song of all time, ever, and there's no denying how iconic and influential The Specials' debut album is. Seeing it live at the 100 Club recently was phenomenal.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Jubilee Street
Seeing Nick Cave for the first time last year in Victoria Park was a religious experience to be honest - The whole day was incredible: Patti Smith, Shame, The Magic Gang, Brix & The Extricated, Baxter Dury & Nadine Shah all in one day in the sunshine with my best mates!
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
The Orielles - I Only Bought It For The Bottle
I'm a bit of an Orielles obsessive and I think everything they do is so catchy - between October 2017 and now I must've seen them about 10 times live and every time they play this I dance like crazy.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
The Murder Capital - Green & Blue
Absolutely love The Murder Capital's sound - I've yet to catch them live but they sound like everything I usually love in a punk sounding band.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
Primal Scream - Movin' on Up
Not sure my girlfriend will thank me for exposing our cringey ways like this but sometimes we go on a "Primal Scream road-trip" round Somerset in her car and just drive somewhere nice for a picnic with the best of Primal Scream on shuffle and turned up loud!
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
Paramore - Misery Business
Being transgender and struggling with that throughout my teen years means I don't have particularly fond memories of it, but going to see Paramore as my first ever gig around age 14 and finally feeling uplifted by the experience of live music was so important to me.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
IDLES - Television
The lyrics to a lot of Idles' songs speak to me anyway, but the message behind this one being simply just "Love yourself" always makes me want to shout along to it. Probably wouldn't make me the most popular person on the train to work, mind.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
The Charlatans - Sproston Green
The Charlatans have finished pretty much every gig they've ever done with it and I don't blame them because it's absolutely the perfect place to end a night, it's triumphant.
