03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Check your head.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Madonna - Holiday

On my Mom's turntable, while she was at work.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored - Remastered

First loves, addiction, recovery and hope. High School or me attempting High School.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Cow Palace, Daly City 1993. Trippin' and a 14 year old all alone in a pit.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Diana Ross - Upside Down

Nile Rodgers and Diana.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Earth Girl Helen Brown - Set the Woods on Fire

Saw her in SF. I like the post punk vibe. Her voice and the melody is infectious on this one. Throw in the Sax solo (shout out Bill Clinton) and you got a song.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Ryan Paris - La dolce vita

It's a Dance Party Primer! The Synth hook is 2 good!!! Italia Disco at its best!

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Wu-Tang Clan - Wu-Tang Clan Aint Nuthing ta F' Wit

Being 14. Thinking I was from the lands of Shaolin, hanging out with Seniors, bong hits and being angry at my parents.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

INXS - Original Sin

R.I.P. Michael Hutchence...The Lyrics are so relative in today's social and political climate. I still get goose bumps and some waterworks have left my tear ducts once or, ahem!, twice.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Sade - Smooth Operator - Remastered

I usually end up going home alone so Sade encourages me to have the confidence coast to coast, L.A. to Chicago.
