Kaleidoscope: the
Fred Perry x size?
Tie-Dye Collection

JUNE 2020

Continuing their 20th birthday celebrations, we work with streetwear aficionados size? on an extremely limited tie-dye collection, inspired by acid-house and the second summer of love.

The three-piece ‘Kaleidoscope’ collection consists of a classic Fred Perry Shirt, long-sleeve T-shirt and - everyone’s favourite - bucket hat. With bold splashes of colour and traditional tie-dye designs, each item is individually dyed, meaning no two pieces are the same.

These extremely limited collector’s items pay homage to the musical revolution of the late ‘80s and Britain’s second summer of love. Inspired by the rise of Acid House and the baggy tie-dyed clothing worn by Frankie Knuckles fans in Manchester’s Hacienda. At the time, tie-dye became a uniform for likeminded souls up and down the country, making waves across warehouses and fields.

Today, tie dye lives on as a subcultural symbol, immortalised through pop culture references over the years. From Woodstock to Wayne’s World; Clueless to Rave Culture, the psychedelic swirls of tie-dye are a symbol of togetherness. A countercultural uniform for troops of revellers in joyful protest, significant now more than ever.

The Fred Perry x size? 20th Anniversary Kaleidoscope Collection is now available at size.co.uk plus size? Manchester & size? Carnaby Street shops.

To celebrate the collaboration, we teamed up with Mixmag to record a special DJ set as part of the size? sessions (20:20 Mix) series. With a set from Manchester-based DJ Anz, you can expect high-energy beats, bouncing between UK garage and funky, hardcore and – of course – acid house. Tune in below.
